Established in 1993, Panyu Polytechnic (formerly Panyu Polytechnic College) was approved and accredited by the Ministry of Education in September 1997 as the only one state-owned full-time higher vocational college under Guangzhou Municipal Government.Located in Panyu District, the center of the Pearl River Delta, the college now accommodates more than 6,200 full-time students on its campus. It covers an area of 2,180 mu and a construction area of 152,000 square meters. A total investment of over RMB 40 million has so far been made in various facilities. It includes RMB 25 million worth of instructional instruments, a library with an area of 11,000 square meters, and a book stock of 350,000 books and 1,300 national and international periodicals.Hidden in the picturesque hills and having clear blue nearby lakes, and dotted by flowers, the campus well deserves the title of a Garden-style Unit of Guangzhou and a paradise for intellectual pursuit. The college focuses on higher vocational education, aims at cultivating college-level practical personnel. It is composed of 7 departments and 1 section; Business Administration, Finance, Tourist Management, Applied English, Architecture and Art Design, Computer Science, Electro-mechanical, as well as Basic Course Section. The college also has one modern education and technology center, one computer center, one network center, language laboratories, toy making rooms, ceramics room, 53 modern teaching and training sites, along with 51 training bases outside the college. The school has stressed on improving all level qualifications through strong awareness of excellence, which embodies in its long and open invitations of qualified teachers from nationwide. We now have a highly-capable and well-balanced faculty, 40% of which are the holders of senior professional titles.

　　 The college has carried out an ability-centered,student qualification-centered, as well as employment-centered practice. Course deigns are closely based on the demands the industry and development of Pearl River Delta area. 25 subjects are available, including Computer Accounting, Finance and Banking, Business Administration, Real Estate Management, Jade Processing and Management, Logistics, E-commerce, Law Sciences, Hotel Management, Tourism Management, Business Secretary, Applied English, Industrial and Civil Engineering, Engineering Cost Accounting, Commercial Art Design, Environmental Art Design, Product Design, Computer Application and Maintenance, Toy Design and Manufacturing, Applied Electronics, Model Design and Manufacturing, Computer Software Design, Digital Control and Application, Project Network Technology, and Primary School Education. Our college has carried out a strategy of being distinguished, and has taken efforts to create our own features and advantages. Most departments have established Professional Supervision Committees composed of corporate leaders, experts and teachers. Toy Design and Manufacturing as well as Commercial Art Design have been designated as national experimental subjects in higher vocational education reform.

　　 Under the principle of cultivating highly-practical human resources, Panyu Polytechnic has been successful in offering students “Dual-diplomas”, which aims at offering both a graduation diploma and a vocational qualification certificate. This principle is to intensify the competitiveness of the graduates and provide students more choices in employment. As a result, our students have own continuous popularity of adaptability and good practice skills. Ever since the first release of college and university employment rate in Guang Dong in 2001, our college has been at the top of the list: employment rate in 2001 was 98.21%; placed the second of Guang Dong province, in 2002 the initial employment rate was 94.17%; went up to the first of the list, in 2003 the rate was 94.77%; up to the second of the list.
